STORY

Sauf Haus Bier Hall & Garten is the first-of-its-kind Biergarten located in the heart of the Dupont Circle area of the District of Columbia. It’s D.C.’s largest and most authentic german Biergarten with a great selection of imported biers, wines, and spirits. Opened in 2014 and has become a staple of D.C. The Sauf Haus team is led by chief bier-drinkers John Issa, Johan Cortes, and Christian Cortes. The rest of us are just a bunch of excited, friendly people ready to talk about (and drink!) biers. As the Germans say: “Du bist willkommen!” 

Long before Sauf Haus was dreamt up to bring a taste of Bavaria to the District, this Dupont Circle spot served as The Guitar Shop. This Guitar Shop inspired Sauf Haus’s commitment to live music. Sauf Haus is the perfect place for Happy Hour, birthday parties, girls’ nights, bachelor parties, and so much more.

Sauf Haus has been named one of the ‘15 Hottest New Bars in the U.S.” and “DC’s 11 Hottest Restaurant and Bars” by Zagat. It’s also been called an Essential Oktoberfest celebration by Thrillist.
