Sauf Haus Bier Hall & Garten partners with Gravitas chef and owner Matt Baker to bring sandwich pop up shop “French Exit” to DuPont Circle

DuPont Circle, Washington, D.C. – Sauf Haus Bier Hall & Garten is welcoming chef and owner of upcoming Ivy City restaurant, Gravitas, Matt Baker to their Biergarten for two special weekends.
Baker’s sandwich pop up entitled, “French Exit” will be serving 3 gourmet sandwiches featuring local product and produce. The menu offerings will include the popular Fried Chicken Sandwich with pimento cheese, Green goddess aioli, lettuce, tomato, and bread and butter pickles as well as a Braised Beef Short Rib Grilled Cheese. For those looking only to satiate their sweet tooth, Baker will also have warm Bread Pudding on hand. All breads for the menu items will be baked, daily and provided by Bread Furst.
The pop up will run on Fridays and Saturdays for two weeks beginning on November 4th and 5th, respectively. Friday service will begin at 5pm and Saturday at 1pm. Price points for menu items will range between $4-$14.
“French Exit”, a slang expression for a person who leaves a gathering without saying “goodbye”, came to be after a delay in opening of Baker’s tasting menu restaurant, Gravitas. The Ivy City slated restaurant location is now proposed to open in the Spring of 2017. Until then, “French Exit” pop-up events are being used by Chef Baker as a testing ground to develop a fast-casual sandwich concept that he hopes to open in the upcoming year.
Sandwiches will be available only while supplies last. Sauf Haus Bier Hall & Garten will suspend full service of their normal menu during operation of “French Exit” with the exception of their signature Bavarian pretzels.
